Rising Demand from India Boosts Thailand Aviation

Representative of the Airlines Association of Thailand and Board Member

Due to an increase in demand from Indian tourists, Thailand aviation sector is expanding rapidly. Krid Pattanasarn, Head of Government Relations at Thai AirAsia, Representative of the Airlines Association of Thailand, and Board Member of the Tourism Council of Thailand, gave an interview with David Barrett, host of the Trends interview series, at the ASEAN-India Forum in Bangkok this July, which was organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

With double-digit growth in places like Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, and Indonesia, Indian outbound travel to ASEAN is flourishing.

What makes Indian travellers unique is their booking behaviour. Unlike European visitors who plan months ahead, many Indians book within two weeks of departure making Thailand a convenient choice for quick getaways. Younger travellers, in particular, are opting for short two- to three-day trips. To meet these needs, Thai AirAsia is focusing on safety, punctuality, and enhanced connectivity linking Indian arrivals not only to Bangkok but also to other Thai cities and neighbouring ASEAN destinations.
