July 21, 2025, Bangkok A historic letter of intent was signed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and 20 partners from the public and private sectors to expedite the achievement of the sustainable tourism goals by 2030. Todays agreement signals a unified national commitment to transform thailand tourism sector through sustainability and shared responsibility, as part of TAT broader Strategic Direction 2026.
The Letter of Intent expands upon thailand adherence to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN by transforming those global aspirations into concrete, achievable goals for the travel and tourism industry. The STGs, led by TAT, seek to improve Thailand tourism offers by balancing social justice, economic growth, environmental preservation, and good governance.
The partners form a unified coalition to position Thailand as a global leader in sustainable tourism. The agreement outlines a cross- sector commitment to advance the STGs by 2030 through joint frameworks guiding policies and actions for 2026 – 2027. It promotes emissions reduction, resource efficiency, biodiversity protection, and improved management standards across economic, social, environmental, and governance dimensions with equity and local participation at the core.
